pexpect在超时时引发异常（默认情况下为30秒）。如果你不想要例外;将pexpect.TIMEOUT指定为.expect()的模式。

在您的示例中，git clone在.expect(pexpect.EOF)上的默认超时后生成pexpect.Timeout异常。尝试：

i = child.expect([EOF, TIMEOUT], timeout=git_clone_timeout)
