你在这里犯了一些错误。

首先,你永远不应该从EDT致电Thread.sleep()。这将导致您正在描述的行为:您的UI将变得迟钝且无响应。您可以谷歌“Java EDT”获取更多信息,但this是一个合理的起点。

您可能希望使用Swing Timer,而不是(错误地)使用Thread.sleep()来检测延迟。有关详情,请访问here

其次,你不应该从EDT加载图像。相反,在开头加载它们一次。

除此之外:你可能最好使用JPanel(Swing而不是AWT),你应该真正修复你的格式,因为你的代码很难按原样阅读!
