The meaning of "the assumed interpretation and language typing" from solidity doc

I would like to know the meaning of the below sentence in solidity documents. "address: equivalent to uint160, except for the assumed interpretation and language typing. For computing the function selector, address is used." I could not make sense of "assumed interpretation and language typing".
